The sad news is my printer is giving me tons of problems, I can get some good prints, but it's increasingly harder to work with. SO... I've been doing an experiment. I am currently doing my first project entirely mocked up as a 3d model. Mostly done with the theater. There was a learning curve, but I think I like the process On the plus side, the preview pics should be MUCH better. Anyway, I promise the Theater is "coming soon."
After than things were (still are) largely up to you guys. The caveat is Dew Wood has asked me to do another project for his game. I had done 50 pages of cardstock terrain for his initial scenarios, and know I'm thinking of a themed project thru my line, so they'll be foamcore focused. The initial thought (very early) is that it will MUCK-3 with apocalyptic influenced buildings. Still haven't fleshed it out, but those are thoughts.

What kind of 'Theater' is it? Is this a 'movie theater' (or cinema as they're called on this side of the pond), or a theatre for acting? (what do you call them over there? just theater?
Two countries divided by a common language ... a product called 'Theater' is going to cause a lot of questions, methinks!

 That would be a confusion on this side of the pond as well. It's a two screen movie theater. About the size as the "Big Box". So best to say small movie theater, holds about 50 seats between the screens. The two big things remaining are the ground tiles (a nice large parking lot to go around it) and the roof. Both are laid out, but I need to finish the textures, but they should go quick. Other than that just a few little props to add still. As for Drew's Project. He recently launched his own line of miniatures called Nexus Miniatures (https://www.facebook.com/groups/UNI.TECH.HQ/) so far with only an initial release of resin masters for the first four figures. He has about ten "greens" finished so far, But he has several sculptors working on various factions, is set to have some 40 figures by early next year. The game is called S.D.Z.A which is short for Superhero Dinosaur Zombie Apocalypse, his main premise is bring a bunch of genres together to have fairly encompassing set of rules. Also, many of the figures, and art are inspired by many of our 80's favorites. He approached me a few months back about doing the art for him (everything from company logo's to game illustrations), and I've shift much of my free time to that project for the time being so that I could get him a rule books amount of art by January/Feb. Like I mentioned, in addition to the art, I've done a bunch of cardstock terrain for the game. Anyway, you can preview some of my contribution (http://www.nexus-miniatures.co.uk/the-gallery) some greens and sculptors previews on the top, and my stuff from the sixth row down.  |

I've seen SDZA around and it does look like it will be a bunch of fun! Glad to hear you're involved with it. As a request for something in the future ... have you seen "John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars"? If you have, do you think you could create some buildings like the adobe style featured in that? There's some concept art of the buildings here: johneaves.wordpress.com/2009/09/01/art-of-john-carpenters-ghosts-of-mars-day-one/and here's a pic of the set:  When I asked about the Blue Giant elsewhere on the forum I mentioned I was getting into 15mm SF and I think Martian/Colonial buildings similar to these would be popular |

I always like to learn what you have in the pipeline, Carl. I am really looking forward to seeing the cinema/theatre.
Your artwork for SDZA is really excellent. I'm very pleased to hear you are doing card-stock terrain for the game. Consider my interest well and truly piqued.

A silly request? I want a great, rundown ( or not) Gothic/Victorian necropolis kit. Something with a dozen mausoleums or similar big cemetery structures with interior access. Little gravestones or capped or coping tombs are easy to find or make. A few companies make like plastic or resin vaults, but no interior access. There are some printout style floor plan type pdfs out there too. Nothing on par with the kinds of models you make though. Really, my Lovecraftian ghouls just want a place to caper, and jibber, and meep beneath the moonlight.  Plus, it would make a nice pairing with other types of model kits, like your catacombs or secret base. |

You're in New Orleans if memory serves? I'd have to really step up to capture some of that funeral art down there. I'd love the challenge, and it certainly is something I need to do. Something like the shed load of sheds but for the dead.

I give tours of the old cemetery here, actually.
New Orleans style graveyards may not actually transfer all that well, at least not the old ones. They're more Spanish than anything else in their structures.
I'm thinking more late 1800s/early 1900s big whackin Victorian/Edwardian structures.
( Although NO, La style tombs would be awfully cool too)

Hey Carl.
I know you have a lot in the pipeline, so maybe this is just being really cheeky. What I would really like to see as a kit is an abandoned slaughterhouse (like in Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
Have you thought about Horror movie themed bundles like MUCK but themed for different horror franchises, I don't know how feasible it would be or what the interest would be either.
I just thought that their are some iconic buildings that would benefit from your magic touch. And it would be really cool.
I mean, for example Night of the Living Dead. So a cemetery, a farmhouse, a pickup and some gas pumps.
Every film has some set piece in which the action takes place.
Just a suggestion, what do you think?

It's a great suggestion, and basically that is how the Horror House started. At least the basic idea, but in the end wanted my own, that was only "inspired by". I will re-visit more such places, and certainly, not averse to getting closer to some source material per say. NotLD being a great example for a good "set".
Currently still working on MUCK3. after the bomb. Not as much progress as I'd like, but end of the semester and all, Nov has historically been a bad time to get structures done for me. Mad some nice base textures, just have to work how I want to "model" borken edges, and deal with exposed foamcore edges for this particular beast.

Horror House is one of my all time favorite projects, it's actually called Haunted Home - Scott Manor (you may recognize the last name). www.wargamevault.com/product/117828/Haunted-Home--Scott-Manor?term=haunted+house+stoelzel It started as me wanting a scooby doo haunted house complete with secret passages. Inspired a bit by the Adams family house (show not movie), but went thru heavy customization. A world or warning, I consider my most complicated project. Not really that difficult, but it's probably a commitment of time to get thru, like about as much as 3 simpler houses. |
